Head Coach Adriano de Souza is in his third season as the Lady Techster volleyball coach.

After a 7-22 season last year, the Lady Techsters have already matched their win total from a season ago in only 14 matches.

They started off the season at the Bronco Classic hosted by Western Michigan University and dropped to 1-2 after hard-fought matches against Oakland University and St. Francis University before playing the host Western Michigan University Broncos.

“We used 12 players from a roster of 15 and they all helped each other in order to get the win in the second match,” de Souza said of the Lady Techsters’ victory over St. Francis. “They did a great job managing their game and taking care of the opportunities they created during the match.”

The same outcome came in the McNeese Invitational hosted by the McNeese State University Cowgirls.

Tech split the first day with a victory over Jackson State University and a loss to McNeese, but could not bring that magic to the second day’s match, falling to the University of Texas at Arlington.

The Techsters then hosted an invitational in the Thomas Assembly Center where they went 2-1 and finished second to the Lady Jacks of Stephen F. Austin State University.

After dropping one to Ole Miss at the Rebel Classic, the Techsters defeated Jackson State and Lamar University in day two to move to 7-6 on the season.

The Lady Techster’s opened Conference USA play last Monday suffering a 3-0 sweep at the hands of rival University of Southern Mississippi.

Junior Delane Guidry said the Techsters’ record is a tribute to their hard work and team chemistry.

“We are learning a lot about each other,” Guidry said. “We are working hard and we are trying to learn how to play together on the court.”

The Lady Techsters will resume league play Friday when they host Western Kentucky University at 7:00 p.m.
