Louisiana Tech will welcome one of its own back to Ruston this weekend as the Homecoming lineup features none other than former Tech offensive linemen and Tech Hall of Famer Willie Roaf, as he makes a rare appearance at the school that put him on the map.

Roaf is set to treat Tech fans old and new this weekend with scheduled autograph signings arranged at the Sleep Inn of Ruston Friday night from 7-8 p.m., and the Argent Pavilion during pregame tailgating Saturday from noon-1p.m.

Roaf will also be featured as the Louisiana Tech Legend for the matchup with the Spartans and will be recognized between the first and second quarters of the game Saturday by the Tech faithful.

Saturday, Roaf will hold a bigger responsibility than usual. He is scheduled to speak to the team before the Homecoming game against San Jose State and provide some wisdom for current Bulldog players before they take to the field.

While he is a shoo-in for the National Football Hall of Fame in Tech fans’ eyes, Roaf has yet to be inducted after serving 12 years in the league and earning 11 Pro Bowl selections in his time as a professional and is a Hall of Fame hopeful this year.

Roaf, who was drafted eighth overall in 1993, is mostly known for his time as a New Orleans Saint, although he also spent time in Kansas City during his standout professional career.

For Bulldog fans wanting to commemorate Roaf’s visit, items will be available to purchase for autographs or fans are welcome to bring their own memorabilia for him to sign.
