The Louisiana Tech Golf Team hopes to keep its season alive as it moves on to the Old Waverly Collegiate Championships in West Point, Miss. on April 8-9.

The tournament will be hosted by Mississippi State, and the Bulldogs will play there for the second year in a row.

The tournament will have some good southeastern teams playing in the tournament on a solid course.

In their last outing, the Bulldogs stumbled in the last day to finish in 14th place.

Senior Travis Wilmore, who entered the final round tied for first after a pair of sub-par rounds, could not sustain that success over the last 18 holes as she shot 6-over-par and finished tied for 14th overall at 1-under-par.

UAB is top dog in Conference USA, and the rest of the teams are competing to set their place as second best.

Travis Wilmore is in his senior season at Louisiana Tech and has high hopes for the program.

“A nice way to go out in my senior season would be to take the team to (the NCAA) regionals since we have not been there,” Wilmore said.

The Bulldogs only have Old Waverly left before the C-USA tournament and regionals.

Wilmore has high aspirations, as he will take the MCAT after he graduates and hopes to turn pro around July.

Another senior, Jack Lempke, hopes to go out on a good note before he returns home to Texas to pursue a career in the stock market.

“I hope that we can make it to Regionals before I graduate since I have never been there,” Lempke said.
