For the second consecutive week Louisiana Tech guard Alex Hamilton earned the title of Conference USA Player of the Week as voted on by a media panel representing all 14 league schools.

Tech may have suffered heartbreaking back-to-back losses on the road during the seven-day stretch, but Hamilton was still in tip-top form as he continued his streak of leading the Bulldogs in scoring.

Against Louisiana-Lafayette, the junior connected on eight field goals and routinely drew fouls to get to the charity stripe like he always does to total a game-high 27 points. He attempted 14 free throws marking the 11th time in his career he has attempted at least 10 in a single game.

Against Syracuse in front of 19,156 fans wearing orange in the Carrier Dome, Hamilton anchored a late rally to tie the game up, 69-69, with 25 seconds left.

Down 67-60 with 2:52 left in the game, the Chipley, Florida native scored nine straight points to pull the Bulldogs even with the Orange before Syracuse escaped with the win on a contested hook shot with 2.8 seconds left.

He finished the day with a team-high 20 points while also registering a game-high three steals, assisting in the Bulldog defense’s strong effort in turning Syracuse over 17 times.

After scoring a total of 47 points, Hamilton needs only 40 more to become the 38th member of the 1,000 point club at Tech.

He shares this week’s C-USA award with T.J. Price of Western Kentucky University.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. when they host Nicholls State.
