Louisiana Tech’s baseball and softball teams are set to head out of town for two weekend series against Oral Roberts and San Jose State respectively.

The Diamond Dawgs are ready to hit the road one final time before embarking on conference play as they head out of town on a five-game road trip that will surely be a tough test before starting their Western Athletic Conference schedule.

With one final chance to get their lineup and rotation straightened out before conference play begins, Tech will need a good result as they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to take on Oral Roberts in a three-game series beginning Friday.

With its non-conference schedule beginning soon, the Bulldogs are looking to improve on their .500 record of 12-12 on the year.

The Bulldogs will open the series at 6:30 p.m. Friday night and continue play at 2 p.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday respectively.

After losing two out of three games to Dallas Baptist last weekend, the Bulldogs slid back into action for two mid-week contests against Northwestern State and Grambling State.

The Bulldogs were back at it Tuesday night, defeating the Demons 8-2 at J.C. Love Field before traveling down the road to face the Tigers.

Dave Nitz will call all the action from the Bulldogs series against the Golden Eagles. Fans can tune in on the LATech Sports Network on ESPN 97.7 FM or on LATech All-Access.

As for the Techsters, they will head west for the weekend to take on the Spartans of San Jose State in their second conference series.

Tech swept the doubleheader from Utah State last Saturday by scores of 2-1 and 8-0 after falling in the series opener Friday.

The Techsters head into the road series against the Spartans with an overall record of 15-17 and are 2-1 in WAC play this far in the season.

Tech will begin the series against the Spartans Friday night at 5 p.m. with a doubleheader scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
